It has been a really exciting year for us and I’d thought I’d send a quick update.
First of all as some of you may know one of our founding members Alicia Miecznikowski has moved on from The Funky Mamas to pursue some solo projects. We are both extremely sad to see her go and very excited for her new adventures that lie ahead. We will miss having her performing with us in more ways than can be expressed in an email but we all live in the same town so we get to see her alot which is a small compensation at least. Of course her lovely spirit will carry on in all that we do moving forward and we will keep you posted on her projects as well!
Speaking of moving forward we are officially in the studio starting our newest CD and we can’t wait to get it out there for all of you to have a listen. We will be posting some snippets of new songs on our Facebook page so make sure you become a fan if you haven’t already (just search for us within Facebook). Our goal is to have it out ready for the CD release parties in Guelph and Ottawa by Spring 2011.
We are once again offering a special Holiday Time sale of our signed CDs for those young ones on your shopping list.
Pop us an email music@thefunkymamas.com telling us how many CDs of each kind you’d like (Mamas Fishing and/or Rollin’ Along) and we’ll give you the rate of any 2 signed CDs for $20 (which includes all shipping (within Canada) and taxes). Don’t forget to include your mailing address! If you email us before December 15th we can get it to you before Christmas.
Another highlight of our year was having the extreme fortune of playing in the far North this June in Iqaluit and Igloolik in Nunavut. We made some great friends, danced, played and sang our hearts out! Be sure to check out our website for some pics from our adventure.
